I thought about starting a thread on the 2019 U.S. Senior Women's Open....but after looking at Thursday's scores, P.U. They're playing worse than last year when only four players broke par. I guess the USGA doesn't care about the scores. I still think age 50 for women is not equivalent to age 50 for men, because the guys in their 40s play a lot more golf than the women in their 40s. They set up Pine Needles at 5912 yards, but the best score today is 72 (+1) by Danielle Ammaccapane...this has to be her best day in golf since chewing out Michelle Wie and threatening BJ Wie at the 2003 USWO.
Big Mama Carner (82, +11) failed to shoot her age (80), better luck tomorrow.
I remember the time Ammaccapne went at Michelle for walking in her line beyond the hole. I just thought that she hated all the attention Michelle was getting. They should have been glad to have all the new fans that Michelle was bringing to the LPGA. The first time that Michelle played here, which at the time was the Safeway Classic. There were long lines waiting for transport because of the larger than anticipated crowds. They had to scramble to find more buses.
Looks like Leona Maguire is shooting for a battlefield promotion to the LPGA...she might be there when I get down to the ShopRite/Acer in three weeks. She just picked up her second 2019 Symetra win today in North Carolina...interesting scheduling for this tournament (Wed. thru Fri.)...I guess they figure everyone would be home on the weekend watching Cupcake tear up Bethpage. Leona is tearing up the minors with two wins, a second, a fourth, and a fifth this season.
