Some KLPGA starlets are getting their first chance to play on the LPGA! Ayean Cho, rookie sensation. It would be intense if she contended at all this week, or even if we just get to see her on the broadcast... Da Yeon Lee Jae Eun Lee He Yong Choi And of course, there are the LPGA regulars. Inbee Park Inky. I love how the Mediheal logo looks like an I.V. attached to Michael Meyers from Halloween Jeong Eun Lee 6

That's the second straight successful Monday qualifier for "Meaw". I'm surprised Anna Young did well enough to get into a playoff...she didn't impress me at Valley Forge last year. Lastly, Dr. Noh struck out again (76).
Pos Player Name Nat. Par Score 1 Pajaree Anannarukarn (THA) THA Par 72 2 Robyn Choi (AUS) AUS +1 73 3 Anna Young (CAN) CAN +1 73

OK..Just one more thing. I don't think that she is the Arnold Palmer of golf. My complaint is why is the LPGA going way out of the way to make her that. If it wasn't for all the focus on her she would be looked at as just a good player. I haven't seen anything exciting about her, so why do you think she compare to Palmer. If anyone should be compared to him, it would be Ariya. Brooke is young, blonde, North American, and she wins. I just assumed that the U.S. golf-industrial complex is trying to pass her off as one of theirs during these lean times. Nelly is the best US golfer of the moment and she is young and photogenic, but maybe too standoffish to really ever be the cutie-patootie face of American girls golf. Sorry, I mean womens golf.

The Kordas are probably too second-generation American for the media? Also, they are less flash and more grind. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't totally embrace Nelly, and yeah, compared to the Koreans she gets way more attention, but take one guess who is on the cover of this month's Golf Magazine? Hint: it ain't a Korda. answer: of course it's Michelle Wie...

Hint: it ain't a Korda. answer: of course it's Michelle Wie... If we go back and look at the 2011 - 2013 Solheim teams, the players we would have expected to carry the American LPGA fans to the present date. Kerr, Lewis, Pressel, Stanford, Creamer, Wie, Lincicome, Lang, Kim, Hurst, O'Toole, Thompson, Korda, Salas, Piller. They carried themselves very well. A lot of them won a major or two. But they ran into 2 big problems, a wave of young players who joined ready to win, and the Pak echo boom from Korea. From a marketing standpoint Wie and Thompson were the go-to and both have probably under-performed the lofty expectations. They have to go to Brooke, Lydia and the other international players for hype now. But I'm surprised they haven't used Nelly more.

Well Nelly is very much an overseas marketer. Japanese clothes, Hanwha hat. She even got a Korean flag on her bag. Maybe the GIC don't like that stuff. But yeah it is weird. On paper she got it going on. She is almost everything they could want in a golf star.

Even the loose confederation of 4 handicap males with women’s NCAA golf eligibility remaining and a white belt has Anne van Dam now.

Round 1 All in all a pretty great start for the Sisters this week, especially my faves, with some notable exceptions. So Yeon and Eun Hee both blistered the course in the morning. Ryu actually ended her day with a bogey or she would have had the lead outright, but given how much she has struggled this season, this is a great start and she's feeling upbeat. If she does well in her sponsor's event, it has to be worth brownie points, so good luck to her! Inbee also quietly posted a 70 on a course I expect she will like. In the afternoon it was In Gee's turn to shine. Her stats continue to be a mystery. There were several holes where she hit pretty long drives; I counted 275 on one where she was last to hit to the green over Minjee and Henderson. Yet her average today was 237. Well, whatever, she sure looked good today: in the fairway most of the time, nice putting, and only person without a bogey on her card. Nice! Inky was the other player who was going bogey free, but she finished bogey-bogey to fall to even. Which is still not too bad. Lucky Six usually starts slowly and revs it up in her second and third rounds. Here it was business as usual: 74. Time to crank it up on day 2! Ayean Cho also had a 74, not too shabby for the 18 year old. But the surprise brutal day was turned in by Da Yeon Lee, a pretty high level KLPGAer who shot a 79. Big surprise: perennial San Fran winner Lydia Ko and world #2 Minjee both had the blues. Still time to make the cut, though. Sisters hwaiting!! So Yeon - most of the photos today were of her! Eun Hee In Gee Amy Yang Jeong Eun Lee 6 Minjee needs one of those I.V. masks stat! KLPGA's Chae Eun Lee

Good starts for So Yeon and In Gee. However In Gee is two over par through seven holes today. Good round save for Sei Young Kim, plus four front nine, minus four on the back nine.
Youngin Chun is not quite ready to compete on the LPGA because of her iron play. She is driving the ball long and straight but having trouble hitting greens. She was zero for six in bunker saves. Another factor could be her young inexperienced Caddie. When I followed them they struggled to reach an agreement on club selection.
What's going on with the Korda sisters. Nelly struggled last week now Jessica is struggling this week. Maybe Jessica is still not injury free.

In Gee had dropped to even par after eight holes. But she made four birdies and no bogies the next ten holes. To finish minus one today and minus four overall.
As usual Jeong Eun6 Lee rebounded from the plus two start, with minus three today.

I'm going to take a mental picture of the leaderboard as it now stands; I've been waiting all year for something like this! As So Yeon starts her day, she's tied for the lead, while In Gee is one back, and Inbee, Inky, Amy and Lucky Six are all in the top 20. What's great was how In Gee made four bogies, and rather than fold like an accordion, she fought back with FIVE birdies to go under par for the day. That's the kind of fight (hwait?) I love to see! What is up with how Lucky Six always starts slow, then puts together a great second round? She did it again. Cool, she'll be around for the weekend. Van Sham +5 for the day. It's risky when the press hands someone a trophy on Thursday afternoon. Sisters hwaiting!!!

Everybody worries about In Gee but she won a real major less than 6 months ago in Korea.
