Kotone stayed at plus four. But she will miss the cut again with an even par second round. She needs to shoot at least minus two, to be sure minus three. Ok, I can hope for the best.
Seon Woo Bae got a better start this tournament. Seeing how she missed the cut on her first JLPGA Tournament as a member.

The link above is set up for Saturday's coverage of the 1st hole (8-11 AM Japan time)...which means it will start Friday at 7 PM EST. The group going off #1 at 8:05 AM local time is Sky Kim, Shiho Oyama and Erika Kikuchi. I assume the cut is top-50 plus ties...it's currently at +1.
Natsuka Hori has the first tee time off #1 at 7:15 AM....I'm guessing this is Lala Anai (has Golf 5 logo) who was in the next group after Hori...its 43F at 7:40 AM Japan time.

The earlier video ended, but they recorded the last 30 minutes for the 1st hole (above)....of course it had the players that began at #10. Since they don't split the field of 108 into a morning and afternoon wave, at least five groups who started at #10 were jammed up and waiting to hit at #1. That can't be a good situation for someone like Chie Arimura (below) who was -3 on the back nine, then has to stand around for a prolonged period waiting to play #1.

Thanks to her tank job in q-school, Miyuki Takeuchi (left) couldn't even get into last week's Daikin Orchid event...but PRGR threw her a lifesaver this week and her self-preservation instinct kicked as she is -3 overall thru 9 holes. No such career worries for Eimi Koga (right) who is breezing through this tour...picked up about $78K USD in the season open and is -1 overall thru 9 holes. I just looked up her stats at the U. of Hawaii...she got her average down to 73.1 for the first three tournaments during her junior year of 2015-16, then quit the team...looks like a pretty good move now.
******
UPDATE: Almost forgot this...you must check out the Golf 5 commercial starting at 56:37 of the first video. Golf 5 is big golf retail chain throughout Japan...they even have two stores in Okinawa! It appears that they also have a new type of store called Golf 5 Prestige...there are three of these, all in the Tokyo area. "Prestige" is a code word over there for the most exotic, blingy and EXPENSIVE golf gear you can find. You get a taste of it in that ad: Honma-Beres, Mizuno Yoro Craftsman wedges, Edel, Epon and a couple of shoe brands I never heard of before. This place makes a PGA Tour Superstore look emaciated.

The cut slipped to +2 with 57 players making it.
RANK PLAYER SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R TOTAL 1T Seonwoo Bae -7 -3 68 69 137 1T Satsuki Oshiro -7 -3 68 69 137 3T Min-Young Lee -5 -2 69 70 139 3T Ai Suzuki -5 -2 69 70 139 5T Shiho Oyama -4 -4 72 68 140 5T Hinako Shibuno -4 -3 71 69 140 5T Momoko Ueda -4 0 68 72 140 5T Rumi Yoshiba -4 +1 67 73 140 9T Phoebe Yao -3 -4 73 68 141 9T Hina Arakaki -3 -1 70 71 141
Hina Arakaki aced #14 (152 yards) with a 9-iron (7:47 in the video below)...her celebration was subdued by recent acupuncture treatment. It was her first hole-in, public or private. Kotono Kozuma also aced #14, but I couldn't find video for it.
Satsuki Oshiro has no career wins since joining this tour in 2010.
Shiho Oyama...eagled the par-4 16th from 87 yards out (no video)
SW Bae
Asako Fujimoto (+1)
Bo Mee Lee (E)
Ha Neul Kim (+1)...that's NOT a fuzzy toilet seat
Kotone Hori (MC) ... her 72 was too little, too late ... Natsuka Hori also bombed out (73-77)

I wonder how many more tournaments Kotone Hori will get to play. If she do she really needs to focus on the first round better. She got to minus one up to the middle of the second round but couldn't finish. I guess her sister decided to join her missing the cut with a plus five. I still have faith in her doing a lot better.
Seong Woo got off to a slow start on the JLPGA Tour like she did during qualifying. But she put it aside and is starting to play like she is capable of.

While two of the three leaders were getting +4's, two notable Japanese were getting -4's for their round. Yes unfortunately Seon Woo(-3) didn't anchor down but blew her chance for her first win as a Rookie. . .At least she had a top ten. . . Ai, Rumi(-5) and Eri(-4) finished well, and Ai(-9) took the victory. . .It's off to old Z land for me. . .

Rumi Yoshiba
Jae Eun Chung
Min Young Lee
Minami Katsu
Karis Davidson (+3)
I gave Mamiko Higa (+3) a big build-up after last week, but she just mails it in this week.
