don Thanks for the info. I've learned something; Michelle Wie > Augusta National. Pinehurst doing back to back weeks got the women something they rarely do, the coverage to drive viewers. I often hear people say like, women will get more money when they get more eyeballs. Well duh! The reality is the media steers the interest like a rudder. IT'S HOW ADVERTISING WORKS! The two people the typical golf channel couch jockey wanted to see were Pano and Haley Moore. Because they had articles written about them. It matters when the golf media twitter guy goes like 100 tweets w/o mentioning a woman. It matters when these guys only ambulance chance women's sports. Someday one of these players is going to give the media a PIECE OF THEIR MIND on national TV at it will be the greatest. (obviously it helped that it was Wie, but they can't just sit on their cans and wait for that. One of them needs to just DRIVEON to Golf Channel and sit at the front door until they get on the set.)

2014 might be too far back to make a realistic comparison. TV viewing has splintered a lot over the past 5 years.
I'll bet the Colgate Dinah Shore got huge ratings on network TV back in the 70s. At least compared to 2019 numbers.

"Someday one of these players is going to give the media a PIECE OF THEIR MIND on national TV at it will be the greatest. " I should say one day someone is going to give them a piece of MY mind. Which is what I really want here.

Is this finally over and this is going back to being the Seoulsisters Forum. The main attraction wasn't the lady golfers, it was the golf course. Played it anywhere else, no one would care.

for an event that is supposedly sold out, there sure are alot of empty seats in the stands
Perhaps AGNC wanted to limit the wear and tear on the course...there are people on GolfWrx who say the place looked a little chewed up for this event...I can't tell from the video.

In a field of 30 amateurs who had only one day of prep, 8 players broke par and 5 shot Even at 6,365 yards…and 15 players made par or better at the brutal par-4 10th hole (450 yards). Perhaps the greens were softer than usual, but I saw similar pin placements that the guys play on Masters Sunday. What would the 30 best LPGAers have done under the same conditions? Logically, they might have buried this course so deep that nasty old Clifford Roberts would have popped up in his box and shot himself again. Since there are only two sets of tees, the odds of the LPGA ever playing AGNC just went from slim to almost nil.
I didn’t see the Saturday broadcast, but the tournament website has a replay of it. Those were CRAZY good hybrids Kupcho hit into the par-5 13th and 15th holes (you’ll see the gorillas hitting irons into these greens next Sunday). Kupcho’s shots reminded me of the story of Ray Floyd ordering a 5-wood early in 1976 for the expressed purpose of reaching the distant greens at the Masters (which he won shooting 17-under).
Video of ’76 Masters below with “old school” club selections at #13 and #15.
7:20 – Hale Irwin from 250 at #13 (looks like 3W) 22:07 – Ben Crenshaw from 250 at #13 w/ 3W 43:06 – Ray Floyd from 230 at #13 w/ 5W 43:32 – Ben Crenshaw from 227 at #15 w/ 3W
One exception: 33:30 – The GOAT from 230 at #13 with an iron
