Thanks, Tony!
Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate.
The US Women's Open was the linchpin of this season. It's been well known that Ariya Jutanugarn has had trouble keeping her nerves when it came to capturing that victory. Those nerves arose again at the Open as Hyo Joo Kim, of all players, got hot and challenged Ariya. That Ariya managed to pull out the win paved the way smoothly for her in capturing all the accolades.
Hyo Joo ended up just being a prop for Ariya's ascendancy. The Open was her only top ten of the season. She would get only one other top 20 and missed the cut four times. I saw her play last April in Los Angeles and she looked frail and weak. I remember being impressed by her in Hawaii during her rookie season of 2015. Slight but talented. She would finish 2nd behind Sei Young Kim in the ROY race that included Ariya, Minjee Lee, Ha Na Jang, Wei Ling Hsu and Charley Hull.
