Randall Mell writes of Lucky 6's triumph. . . www.golfchannel.com/news/jeongeun-lee6-holds-college-stars-win-inaugural-lpga-q-series“I wouldn’t have considered coming to the United States if all those great players hadn’t come over before me and done so well here,” Lee6 said through a translator. “They inspired me, but I’m not sure yet how much I will play the LPGA. “I don’t speak much English. The United States is such a big country, and I need to go back and talk to my parents and sponsors about a plan.”

Lucky didn't get much coverage from Symetra on this thing given that she's a star close to the lead. They're just trying to prepare us for what will happen should she join the tour next year. Gillman finished nineteen shots behind 6. What do you want to bet that she will get a rookie profile on Golf Channel next year before Lucky 6 (assuming Lee comes over to play, which I think she will)?

C Doris Chen was Dq'd for signing an incorrect scorecard. Does this drop her into the lowest level of Symetra purgatory? I followed Doris Chen progress on the Symetra Tour. She did not play too good. I was glad she made it to the Q-Series but never expected her to go any farther. Chen's mother apparently found a ball Doris hit out of bounds and moved it in bounds. She was seen doing this by a homeowner watching the tournament from her porch (!) I sincerely hope that didn't happen, but if it did, youch.

I wish we could see Lucky 6 at the CME Globe final tournament. . .I know it won't happen as it probably would count against her Rookie status but it would be fun to see her. . .Jin Young played at the CME last year but it was before she accepted membership into the LPGA I think. . .maybe Lucky 6 can pull off something like that. . . Jin Young won an official LPGA tournament last year, Lee didn't, hence the difference.

Wow, great final day for Lucky Six! I'm so happy for her that she got her card, although that was a foregone conclusion for the past five or so rounds. The win is sweet icing on the cake, and because she won we got that lovely interview with her with LPGA.com (and she earned her traveling expenses for the week if nothing else). Best thing was that she was not over par in 8 rounds. That's consistency!
I was also excited to see Youngin Chun have another strong day to move into the top 15; she nearly got all the way back to par for the week. I'm not sure she's quite ready for the grind of the LPGA; she'll only be 18 next season. But it should be a fun experience for her.
Alas, after a nice Friday, Erynne Lee collapsed on Saturday and missed the card.
I'm still not sure about this format. Someone should go back and see how many of the top 25 golfers in the final results were already apparent after four rounds. I'd guess it was most of them. It seemed like a waste of time for the top 8 or so golfers to still keep playing the second week, they were so clearly going to earn cards.
But the important thing is that Jeong Eun Lee 6 earned her card! Congrats to her! I'm thrilled by the prospect of seeing her on tour next year!

Ha Ha, I had to look this up after Lee's interview.
I now know what the chant will be for her when she makes a birdie next year: Hot Hot HOT 6!

This gal is a character. The LPGA needs more of those. Glad she got her card.
You are SO RIGHT...I plugged her tee-to-green game at Valley Forge as being LPGA-quality, although she almost made me look stupid this week. Her putter is the wildcard. I followed her briefly during a late-day pro-am at the Seaview in 2017...I'll have to expand that commitment in 2019.

Lucky 6 is like a breeze of fresh air; fearless, unspoiled and bundle of energy.

I absolutely love this photo. I can't help but believe she is going to gain a quick following in the States next season, with or without English.
