I think Yumiko is one of the last to use the long putter. . .here she is (on the right)with the ever smiling Yukari Nishiyama and Ai Suzuki. . .

In other news:
* Shin Ae Ahn will tee it up in two weeks at the Nobuta Group Masters GC Ladies...she made two cuts in five starts on the JLPGA this season.
* The JLPGA Step Up tour is in action this Thursday thru Saturday. I guess they don't do battlefield promotions like the LPGA, since three-time winner Yui Kawamoto is teeing it up again.

At least Ai Suzuki is sitting out this event; otherwise it won't look good.

At least Ai Suzuki is sitting out this event; otherwise it won't look good. I wonder if she was afraid that her injury could cause her to have to withdraw doing the IL tournament. If she had to withdraw during a regular tournament, it wouldn't make a lot of difference. Just a thought, because she is in line to become the face of the JLPGA. Not as popular as Ai, but maybe as popular as Bo-Mee.

It's still dry for the early starters.
Fumika Kawagishi and Saiki Fujita
Ayaka Matsumori has been so hopeless (16 trunks slams this year), but opened with a birdie at #10

The Step Up tour event was wiped out by the typhoon...they will play an 18-hole exhibition event on Saturday with half the prize money distributed equally among all the players.

The weather looks pretty good the rest of the way...they might have passing shower Saturday AM...otherwise it's clear thru the weekend. Tomei CC is about 70 miles SW of Tokyo.
Another first group start for Saiki Fujita and I didn't realize until now that Korean am Ayean Cho was in this one...both players opened at 75, +3.

Looks like Ayaka Watanabe has signed up for the LPGA Q-School. Maybe it's a misprint , because she is starting to play better on the JLPGA tour. Except for the first round 82.

what a surprise...i just looked ayaka watanabe name on the stage 2 q-school list....i remember early on in the process she and kawanishi signed on but i thought they both pulled out...hope she does well... she has been very inconsistent this year with many missed cuts. about a year ago she played a promo round with hidetoshi nakata (soocer player) and it was mentioned she had hopes to play in lpga.
