Hello Everybody!
In the past few months, I feel like the general direction of this message board has headed away from my original intention. When I created the SeoulSisters site and message board, my goal was to get some positive information about the Korean golfers out to fans in the English speaking world. I also hoped to create a place where fans of these players could get together and talk about them without having to deal with the usual negativity women's golf seems to generate on other forums.
Lately, it seems like there has been too much board activity that violates this spirit, so I want to again remind people what the code of conduct is for this site. Although I have been generous in the past, I feel like I may need to take a more proactive role in making sure that board members obey these really quite obvious and not strict rules. I'm also hoping to open a dialogue about this stuff, because I want to get feedback from others in shaping this policy.
Here are the things I especially would like to reinforce.
1. NO TROLLING If you post a message whose entire purpose is to piss somebody off, that is trolling. Trolling is not respectful to other board members and is passive aggressive behavior. I don't want to see any more posts where someone is purposely posting negative nonsense for the sole reason of annoying someone else. Note: I have received several complaints about this and want it to stop!!!!
2. If you insist on dumping on women's golf, do it elsewhere I don't like these posts which talk about how terrible women's golf is, how 'fake' the Majors are, how the men are great and the women aren't, etc. It's perfectly acceptable to criticize the women, course set ups, the management of the tours, etc., as long as it is done in a mature way. The women's Majors are not all created equal and we can talk about that, but acting like the sport as a whole is a joke makes me wonder why you would even bother to come to a fan site for the sport. And yes, their Majors are Majors. I want this to be a place where the fans of this sport don't have to apologize for liking it. And I feel at least some of these types of comments violate rule #1 above.
3. "Fake Koreans" has run its course. For that matter, I want to limit the amount of negativity for the sake of negativity. The Fake Korean bit is getting obnoxious. I also don't like negative nicknames like "Cheating Chella" (or Cheating Lexi for that matter). It is certainly acceptable to talk about the incidents involving those players, but blanket condemnations are not good. Some people are fans of these players.
4. No racism/sexism Duh. But things I want to stop include: - labeling a fan of Korean golfers Rice Kings/Queens - offensive references to body parts (ex: 'bolt ons') - "pink shirts" - Chinese are 'greasing' people; Koreans can't execute; white sportwriters are racists; or any other blanket statement about a race or gender. (although it IS acceptable to talk about bias in sports reporting and, if there is evidence, shady dealings with tournaments). These sorts of comments become a form of trolling.
5. The gossip is getting out of hand I'm not fond of the tendency to speculate on which players are in relationships with which other ones, especially if it is totally gossip with no basis in fact. It's OK to: talk about Inbee + hubby, any other player and hubby, or a player who is having a public relationship (like Soo Jin Yang did with several prominent sports figures). Not OK to make up relationships. Imagine Jennifer Song might read what you are typing. I was willing to let this one slide, but it really is starting to get juvenile, and I worry people will come here with no context and assume there is actually truth to this.
6. Careful with the photos For the most part, this has not been a problem, and I don't even have a problem with the occasional bathing suit/sexy shot of a golfer, but I really want to avoid this place becoming like a teenage boy's wall. Think PG-13 at the most extreme.
Please do respond with feedback below to help me shape this forum into a place where we can all have fun while talking about our favorite golfers! Thanks!

Happy That was a well thought out and detailed way to tell me to stop posting...lol. I guess if I can't be sarcastic or negative anymore...looks like I'll only be able to post about SKY, the other Ryu (KLPGA), CYBORG, Dumbo and The HOTTEST WOMAN ON THE PLANET. PS I doubt J Song reads this site....just sayin.

I assume the only ones who can tolerate me here are Phil, mnmlisglfr, bravedave and fanofseri....I wish we all lived closeby to play some cheap twilight and share a few libations and laughs afterwards...though there is no Blue Dolphin up here in Van City. I know it's cold for you....played golf today in 18*C weather here ...freakin unbelievable...record breaking...we got paired with two funny middle aged Chinese women...no knee highs though....I had them laughing so much.....saw two groups of short skort women on the back nine...I assume they are Korean.

Totally agree but why not just ban the one user who's causing all the problems? Thanks for your input! Before taking any further action, I first wanted to clarify to everyone what my thoughts on this were. I'm hopeful I won't have to do anything more than that. You are being naive and/or overly polite. Every one of those transgressions you described points to one specific user. I totally understand where you are coming from as a messageboard founder by the way, just like I understood where the Golfwrx management came from when they (repeatedly) banned said user. I am also sympathetic to your concerns about certain notable people reading this site. It is a valid concern. Everyone uses google and it doesn't take much searching to discover this place, and though it might not have the heaviest traffic it is absolutely a public forum in other words. Few people are as loose and licentious as me and yet the thought of certain young ladies reading some of the bawdy crap that gets regularly posted here makes me angry. It's so creepy and wrong and why should the site that you worked hard to build have to be associated? That is a risk of running any user-driven type of messageboard--exploitation by toxic users. You have to be proactive unfortunately. Anyways, your post sums up that user's entire shtick. It's all just repetitions of those same bits. And now that you've spelled it out, there's really no further need for whatever "entertainment" that user supposedly provides. Just ban please. A few people might be put out, but it will be only momentary and the net result is going to be better for your site and the overall quality of discussion and sense of community, I am positive.

HappyFan Very well said, Happy Fan. Thank you! I took a break from this forum for several months because of all the negative things you sited. I didn’t need to read one more comment about “racist ‘mericans“, endless repition of negative slurs against so many players, and endless repition of one viewpoint. Originally this site was a great place for dialogue and information about the LPGA in general as well as Korean players, and I hope it can return to that.

I have to admit, 3 Putt was a little caustic at times. With that been said, I've always welcomed "opinions"....And he did have his share. I for one miss his inane rhetoric. He always made me chuckle. I never took anything he said personal...And at times he made a lot of sense. I guess i'm the only one that misses him.

I just stopped responding to his post, which was a little much and he kept repeating them.

Huh, What? No more "Fake Koreans" ( the thing that drive me away ), no more Senor Tres ( the thing that kept me away ) ?!?! Does that mean it's safe to show my face again?
longballbogey, You didn't take anything he said personally. Just curious, did he post wildly false information about you online for the world to see and join in on his mockery? Call you a "recluse" ? Call you a "coward"? Post an actual picture of you and compare you to a certain transgender celeb? Post photoshopped pics of you? ( along with totally false, insulting and inflammatory info? ). And he continued doing this YEARS after i had left the forum in protest. Even though, according the posted rules, ex-members are supposed to be off limits.
BONUS: All his vitriol towards me lives on in perpetuity on this forum ( all his lies, insults and pics of me are still here ). Not posts about words or ideas i had posted, it was about ME personally.
I'm quite curious what he did to 18Majors that finally crossed the line ?!!
I have visited this board that i used to post on daily exactly THREE times in the past few years. During the 2016 US Open, and during the 2017 Lorena... hoping to anonymously find pics or info about Se Ri, only to be horrified and driven away because instead i found posts and pics about ME.
The third time was a day ago, when i looked to see if anyone was talking about the return of Jimin Kang. Where i was stunned and surprised to find Happy's post about the demise of Senor Tres.
and to cannuck, i find no evidence to suggest that he was kidding. He actually believed all that garbage he was spewing ( he clearly believed the lies he posted about me ). Which i would argue makes it not funny.
