I've played Riviera maybe 75 times. I haven't played all that many of the great courses in California. Lahontan, LACC, Torrey Pines South & North, The Valley Club, Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Pasatiempo, PGA West and the other La Quinta courses, Big Horn, Mission Hills, Hidden Valley, The Vintage Club, Poppy Hills, San Diego Country Club, Pelican Hill, etc. I would like to play Olympic, San Francisco and of course Cypress Point. LACC, Riviera and The Valley Club standout. The best courses I've played elsewhere are Carnoustie, St. Andrews, Milwaukee Country Club, Nine Bridges, Shoreacres, Erin Hills, Bethpage Black, Sawgrass, Olympia Fields, Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits. I know guys that have played all of the courses listed in the Golf Digest 100 Best and all the courses listed in Golf's 100 best worldwide. I'm just a muni golfer and haven't been so lucky. Many of the courses are way too tough for me and I'm better off at the San Clemente Muni. My favorite courses are LA, Riviera, Milwaukee CC and Shoreacres. HUH???...are you pulling our chain and sandbagging us...that's a who's who list of golf courses. Are you one of those guys who won the Powerball Lotto and p*ssed away everything on hookers and blow and now relegated to play twilight at the San Clemente muni when you've saved up enough greenbacks playing Keno at the Blue Dolphin. Why were you on JeJu Island to play Nine Bridges?

I went to Asia once for a couple of weeks. It was a long time ago- way before Dr. Won Park. Otherwise, I would have stayed and joined the robot factory.

I attended the first round of the Genesis Open today and followed the afternoon feature group of Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, and Jason Day for a few holes. Guess who else was following this group? Ayaka Watanabe ! Another person I kept seeing throughout the day was former Indians centerfielder Kenny Lofton. This tournament might get washed out though. We're expecting the heaviest rain in 6 years on Friday and Saturday.

OK...the Cali drought is over...if the ANA doesn't have 3" rough...then the LPGA/IMG has no interest changing the ANA's FAKE major persona.

I'm supposed to go today but I won't bother now. Yesterday, it took me 3 hours to drive 75 miles, a typical Thursday. If you add 5- 6 inches of rain, it will be a nightmare. It is a shame, Riviera looks very nice.
Rough at ANA would really make a difference, but it's not going to happen. I'm glad the young players appreciate Riviera. I remember how Greg Norman mocked Riviera. Of course, in those days, the greens were a mess. The PGA tour should open up in Florida and then come to the West Coast.

I guess the LA traffic rumors are not lies...that's pathetic....and I thought Van City's traffic is lousy.....I've only been in LAX. I assume lousy poa anna back in those days?...now I think it's bent. The poa was so bumpy last week at Pebble.

Crenshaw and Coore restored the greens a couple of years before the 1995 PGA. For some reason (I'm sure against Ben's wishes) they sodded the greens instead of re-seeding them. The grass never took and it was a a disaster for a few years. The greens at LA munis were better. This would have been the perfect course for the Women's Open, instead Davis choose CordeValle.

Except for OZ.....a lot of premier privates don't want to host a top level women's event so the image of the club is not diluted. Pebble has never hosted a LPGA or USWO event...if this doesn't demonstrate that no one cares about women's golf.....I don't know what would. I'm surprised they are playing today.

Yesterday, they cancelled today's racing at Santa Anita in advance of the storm. Hopefully, the 6" of forecasted rain is fake news.

Riviera is down the block from a middle school and the school is being used as an Uber drop-off/pick-up point for golf spectators so you can imagine the traffic nightmare in the morning and afternoon as parents are trying to drop-off/pick-up their kids. Yesterday morning around 7:30, traffic was backed up for about 3/4 mile. I had the genius idea to ride my bicycle to Riviera, so I rode right by all the stopped cars, locked my bike by the entrance and walked right in, no problem. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. I live 4 miles from Riviera. Last year I drove 4 miles to the designated parking in Santa Monica and then rode the shuttle for another 4 miles in stop-n-go traffic to get to Riviera.

Smart idea to use a bike. I used to always come in from the west and park on Napoli, Amalfi or Corsica, sometimes less than a 1/4 mile from the entrance. I guess they don't let you park on the street anymore. God only knows where the shuttle lot will be for the US Open.

FYI...Uber is not authorized here in Van City. For the past CWO's and RBC Cdn Opens.....I've avoided the shuttles and parked as close as possible to the venues and just walk the 10-20 min. You live 4 miles from Riviera....so you must be rich...therefore if I'm down in LA ....we'll play The Great Man's course on your wallet. I'll reciprocate and buy you a Hite or likely a Rolling Rock....oh to heck with it...we'll get bravedave to buy all the beers and wings.

There are also people living in tents under the 405 freeway overpass less than 4 miles from Riviera. On the net worth scale from tent people to Riviera members... I'm somewhere in-between.

I imagine with the poor traffic...people are already mad walking into the office and therefore hard to motivate cause they are also thinking about the drive home. Traffic is just getting worse in every metro city.
I assume it's not cheap to play golf in LA???
