It's like watching Willie Mays stumbling and fumbling in the 1973 World Series. Last year he was skulling chips; now he's topping putts! But, the scary part is that golf is an individual sport...he can't be cut or put on waivers! His past wins probably give him a free pass into PGA Tour events for the next 20 years!

It's scary how you and fanofseri can remember all these obscure events from the past. He's done...I've got to believe there is money in his endorsements of just showing up....but it's embarrassing. He must be so bored sitting at home and I think he only sees his kids 1/2 time sharing duties with Elin....he just can't go out without everyone wanting a piece of him.

I was never a Tiger fan but it was fun to watch him play. The saddest thing is I foolishly made a bet that he'd win another major. I might as well pay off right now.
I haven't read if he is still going to play the LA Open. Maybe they'll give out Thank you Tiger hats and he'll play one round and retire. It would be fitting, that is where his tour of duty on the PGA Tour started.

I haven't read if he is still going to play the LA Open. He's supposed to be at Riviera next week. Taking a long flight to Dubai in his condition just for a cash grab was really stupid. When I received Sports Illustrated as a kid in the late '70s, I remember an article about old timers taking up space on the PGA Tour and squeezing out the rabbits. I found it, which covered the 1978 L.A. Open: www.si.com/vault/1978/02/27/822413/lets-ring-out-the-old-and-ring-in-the-new-aging-pros-with-lifetime-exemptions-only-clutter-up-a-course-or-so-claims-the-pga-which-wants-to-sweep-out-the-over-the-hill-champs-to-make-room-for-the-rabbitsObviously, the rules must have been changed since then...the first paragraph is nuts: Among the 147 players who teed off in the opening round of last week's Los Angeles Open was Jim Ferrier, a 63-year-old Australian who now lives in Burbank. Ferrier did not win the tournament—Gil Morgan did—nor did he survive the 36-hole cut. This surprised no one. Jim Ferrier has not made a cut since January of 1973 when he finished 74th in the Phoenix Open and he has not made a dime on the tour since January 1972 when he finished 66th in the San Diego Open and earned $214.28.

Riviera ate Tiger alive even when he was in his prime. I was looking forward to watching him next week so I could compare his game to Ian Baker-Finch's stellar play at the end.

So why didn't you go to Torrey to watch Eldrick hack chop it? Hopefully SYR has stopped getting advice from IBF so she can stop choking on Sunday....just sayin.....OK....I'll put on my flame suit.

So why didn't you go to Torrey to watch Eldrick hack chop it? I assumed he wouldn't break down after two tournaments and he'd play in LA. Riviera is a much better place to watch a tournament, in part because I'm familiar with the course. You can park closer and I am in LA every week for some reason or another, while San Diego is a place I avoid, unless I have to work there.

I've played Riviera maybe 75 times. I haven't played all that many of the great courses in California. Lahontan, LACC, Torrey Pines South & North, The Valley Club, Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Pasatiempo, PGA West and the other La Quinta courses, Big Horn, Mission Hills, Hidden Valley, The Vintage Club, Poppy Hills, San Diego Country Club, Pelican Hill, etc. I would like to play Olympic, San Francisco and of course Cypress Point. LACC, Riviera and The Valley Club standout.
The best courses I've played elsewhere are Carnoustie, St. Andrews, Milwaukee Country Club, Nine Bridges, Shoreacres, Erin Hills, Bethpage Black, Sawgrass, Olympia Fields, Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits.
I know guys that have played all of the courses listed in the Golf Digest 100 Best and all the courses listed in Golf's 100 best worldwide. I'm just a muni golfer and haven't been so lucky.
Many of the courses are way too tough for me and I'm better off at the San Clemente Muni. My favorite courses are LA, Riviera, Milwaukee CC and Shoreacres.
