Giving the rules makers discretion as to when to enforce the rules could be a spectacularly bad idea. You may as well come out and say that popular American players won't be playing by the same rules as the rest of the field, because no way the LPGA penalizes Thompson if they are allowed to ignore it if they want. We see that with the way they "enforce" slow play rules.
Intention should absolutely NOT be considered, because what player in her right mind will say she intended to cheat? Sheesh.
They need to bite the bullet and just change the rules they don't like and continue to enforce those new rules 100% of the time.

The most high profile slow play penalty in recent memory? The one on Morgan Pressel that turned the semi final match against Aza Munoz in the 2012 Sybase Match Play Championship. And the LPGA had every reason to turn a blind eye to avoid a final match with no Americans against Candie Kung.
Old Crusty just knows how to game the system and avoids penalty. Part of it because she has the practice week in and week out, with her slow play.

That's about the only one I can think of where it made any difference. Any others? Seriously, one player in five years? On the slow-as-molasses LPGA tour?

I loved that event...I'm a Aza fanboy. I really loved the drama when Morgan accused Aza of touching the line of her putt later on in the match....didn't Aza drain that putt?...karma rules.
If any of you watched the event...tonyj5 was there to congrat Aza on her 1st win....Tony was also on TV by the sidelines when Lexi won her 1st event. I wonder if Tony will run onto the green to splash water on the Terminator in her 1st win....nah...likely not....he loves his Yanks so I say...karma is very strong thing...Tony will be at the event IF.....Ryann, Alison, Danielle or Gerina ever win.

I believe the racist RO's accessed a slow play penalty on Angela Park in Hawaii when she was in contention on Sunday. I'm not sure if she was given a proper warning...if yes...she should have changed her cadence.
I wonder what hotel chain she's working for?
I played a 5 hr rd on Sunday...it was PATHETIC....many golfers were looking for plugged balls in the rough....it is COMPLETELY STUPID.... pro golfers take 5 hrs to play golf....rarely spending any time to look for balls.
Let's face it....many will still lined up to loop for Ko. I agree with Shackleford.....just hire locals on a fixed weekly per diem...especially at an unfamiliar private track with a good member on her bag...it worked in Vanc, Edm & SF. It would be hilarious if Lydia won 5 times including a major for the balance of the year...I think a local member at Olympia Fields, Trump, Scottish Open, WBO and Ottawa would be a good advantage.
