Greg Norman open to having men's/women's team event www.pga.com/news/pga-tour/greg-norman-open-having-mens/womens-team-eventGreg Norman, the Shootout's founder and host, was asked in an appearance in the Fox booth during Saturday's final round what he saw in the 28-year-old event's future. That question came on the heels of discussing Lexi Thompson, who became just the second woman to play in the tournament, joining Annika Sorenstam in 2006. "I like the future of considering -- and what are talking internally of bringing back the JCPenney-style format where we actually have the men and the women playing," Norman said. "There's a lot of interest in the community as well as interest by the corporations thinking about having that opportunity."

The parts of the broadcast I watched featured Lexi a lot.
It looked great on TV to have Lexi playing with the men. Expect to see more of it now that the women have such reach in Asia.

The JC Penney was a lot of fun to watch, and they managed to get a surprising number of name male players to attend (naturally all the big female players went).
My fondest memory came the final year of the event. Se Ri was paired with Paul Azinger, and they wound up duking it out with the team of John Daly and Laura Davies. That's a lot of fire power in that group!
I recall Se Ri, who was 21 at the time (which in those days made her one of the youngest on the tour; go figure!), impressed the daylights out of the other three. In the end, though, it was Davies/Daly who won.
