They're having a conniption over at WRX over Nike bailing out of the golf equipment biz. I wonder what clubs Michelle, Suzanne, and Cheyenne will use next. Coates?

You beat me to the punch....lol.
I'm not surprised....Nike golf clothing & shoes will continue.
Rory will be playing PXG soon.....lol. Tiger & Wie are toast...so who cares.
Once a golf market share leader....I'm surprised Wilson hasn't pulled the pin on golf. Adams brand will be defunct with 18 months.
Let's face it...who here has any Nike clubs?....OK....I thought so.....ZERO. No one is going to miss Nike golf.
I find their balls clicky...I'd never buy a Nike ball...heck I've yet to buy a golf ball since 1992 when I got transferred to Van City. I did put a Nike RNZ Platinum Blue in play on Monday for 7 holes....I found the ball long off the irons....without great spin....but didn't test the length side by side by throwing down another ball.

Coates is a joke....ya also think the old man would have acquired a trophy wife if his spouse was gonna burn through cash.

I play Nike 20XI distance balls. I have yet to see the Titleist ProV1 or 1X other golfers use perform any better. One thing I like about them, if a pin is tucked, that I can choose the right club. Because the ball will usually hold the green.
Besides I still have thirteen dozen new balls.

I don't remember any sister plays Swoosh equipment?
Or like 3putt would say, "merica racism".

Grace Park was a Nike sponsoree, and In Gee wears their shoes, but yeah, the Koreans were not a priority for Nike.

No, there's one KLPGAer (maybe a rookie) who signed up with Nike this year...I'm too lazy to look up the name. However, in general, you are right. Nike made almost no dent in the club dept. for women pros in Asia...and they didn't get many women pros outside of Asia. Obviously, Nike has had some big-time guys play their stuff, but they haven't been able to create a spontaneous "mass movement" towards their brand (unlike Ping or Callaway). I wonder if GolfSmith will make any price adjustments for Nike over the next few weeks. Rumi Yoshiba of the JLPGA was that tour's first player to completely sign up with The Dark Side in 2016...and she picked up her first career win recently. What happens now? Can she "partially" get out of that contract? Nike is staying in the golf apparel business and she's a good model for it. As for the clubs, if she likes their irons and wedges, she should horde up as many clubheads as she can find. However, if she later considers her woods and UTs to be obsolete (which is normal), she'll have to look elsewhere...maybe Yamaha, which she had at the 2015 USWO (below). I'm sure Yamaha would be happy to re-sign her...right after she makes a public apology to their employees for leaving them for Nike. ****** Remember the red Nike shirt Curtis Strange wore when he won the 1988 USO? He wore Nike red on Sunday's BEFORE you-know-who. I was not a fan of Strange, but I loved that shirt! I think it was a stylistic game-changer in the industry. When I got into golf in '88, I bought four or five of those shirts during the next few years...red, white, yellow, hot pink, maybe blue and neon green, too. Poor Curtis...after his second USO win in '89, he dumped MacGregor for Maruman and was never heard from again. ******* I bought Nike shoes once about 10-12 years ago...they had some kind of spongy gel insole, which seemed good when I tried them one. But, on the course, YIKES...picked up big blisters on the soles of my feet. I've been an Adidas guy since '09.

I think President Obama plays with Nike clubs. I'm sure he'll be angling for a club deal once he leaves office.
If he can't get a sponsorship, I can let him borrow a set of Ping Karsten III's that I have in storage. But, he'll need to get them re-gripped and learn to hit play right handed.

Oh, I forgot about Nike golf bags...one type of their stand bags has the perfect club configuration. I must be nuts to remember this: At the 2009 USWO qualifier at Neshanic Valley GC, a teen kid was carrying Heather Daly-Donofrio's bag (BTW, she qualified). When he propped it in place, you could see it had eight openings. The middle six openings (two horizontal rows of three) each had a single iron. The opening above had her woods/hybrids and the opening at the bottom had her wedges/putter. I never saw a bag look so clean and organized...and I haven't seen another bag with this exact configuration. My Callaway stand bag is still in one piece after nine years, but if the Nikes suddenly become super cheap, I have to get one.

I was gifted a pair of Nike shoes back in 2000 from a sales manager at work for helping her team out....still in the garage...nice looking shoes but not really comfortable. I also have a brand new pair of Nike golf shoes still in the box from 2008...BIL won them...he rarely/never plays golf....they'll likely be in play once my winter FJ burn out.
IMO...the best value and comfortable golf shoes are the FJ DryJoys that MSRP at $90...that's I've been able to buy for about $60...put into a shoe rotation and they can last 5-6 years.
I've got quite a few Nike golf shirts...not bad....luckily all are from corporate swag.
Oh ya...I've never owned a Nike club.

I think the best and most durable bag I owned was a Mizuno stand bag back in the early 90's. I've been lucky and haven't bought a bag in years...won a TM & Powerbuilt bag and found a Founder's bag for $10 at a flea market....I'm using the PB bag because it has more pockets....the TM bag is fraying at the top after only 2 years of PT use. I want to get back to carrying my bag...I use to alway carry up until 2011....I'll do it rarely nowadays....the PB bag is heavy...the TM bag lighter. Maybe I need to do a minimal bag like minimlstglfr. My dad told me only playa's carry their bag and sissy's use carts....I use to call my wife's pull cart...the Granny cart...guess who's using it now?...lol. Golf bags have really got expensive in the last decade.

I use the Sun Mountain 2.5. It must be a least 15 years old and it has held up. Of course I don't play much. I think it was $129. They still make a version and the pictures show it is about the same. It now costs $219. I carried it for 36 holes last Friday. I only carry 12 clubs when I walk that much but I was still pretty tired when I was done.
