The debate online is whether this is real or fake. I don't want to be close enough to find out!

I've seen and hear some black bears very close by playing Golden Eagle, Carnousite and Swaneset.
At Swaneset....I went looking for some balls in the woods....low and behold....I look over and see a black bear within 15 yards....yikes.
Myrtle Beach has some nice alligators too.

We've actually seen very few gators in Florida, but it's common to see 5-10 during a round of golf on some of the Hilton Head, SC courses. We're there in Jan thru March so the gators are just emerging and spend sunny days on the banks of lagoons. A couple of years when it has been warmer than usual you will see them walk across a fairway to get to a different lagoon. Saw a great big one plop down right by the pin on #9 of the tournament course at Harbor Town, and the fore caddies had to shoo him away. Saw these 2 this this past winter, but we were just goofing around pretending to hide behind the tree. They don't move much.

The scariest thing I've seen on a golf course (other than some golf swings) was a wild boar that came out of the underbrush on a course in Hawaii. It followed us down the 18th hole, getting closer to the carts as we went, and I was in the second cart by myself. Didn't bother to hit our second shots, and about 100 yards from the clubhouse it finally turned back to the underbrush. This was actually about 20 miles further up the coast from Ko Olina where they play the Lotte.

They opted to build a fence around the whole property.

Remember when the LPGA played a tournament in South Africa? There were baboons on the course they played on.

Being a Florida resident there are a few rules for playing golf.
1. Your always gator bait. If chased by a gator never run in a straight line. Same for a golf cart. 2. Looking for lost balls in the rough you always treat the rough like a mine field. You use a club not your hands poking around in the rough. 3. Never put your hand in the water. Use a club or ball retriever.
My first encounter with a gator was at the Palm course at Disney. The keep your cart on the cart path rule was being strictly enforced. After teeing off and starting my ride down I came across a gator on the path getting some morning sun. The only way to get around the gator was get the cart going as fast as possible a and jump the curb stone onto the fairway and back on the path. Three holes later I was stopped by a ranger and was asked how I got around the gator. I told him and then said now mind your business.
Snakes are always a problem. Once while in Boca Raton. While getting ready for my backswing there was a snake crawling between my legs. My nerves were shoot for the day. I was ready for the 19th hole.
Some courses put warning on scorecards about wildlife. So if playing in Florida be careful and enjoy.

I played it when it was 120 deg outside in August while visiting a friend in Tampa (it was "cheap", now i know why). The whole thing is on white sand and swamp so it's hot as hell. I made my friend walk because I'm a snob playing a Doak or Coore, what if they showed up and I'm riding a cart on their course when I try to talk to them. On the first hole my friend is like "yeah i've been doing cross fit, i'm can crush the army fitness test." by the 12th hole he was sitting in the middle of the fairway on every hole to rest. I would have died if they didn't bring water and cold towels out. 100% I'd have died or passed out. There's nothing to do at bandon beside golf. I'd rather play a normal course in a city if I travel. Ocean views are free everywhere but a golf course. Maybe I'll go in January and roll the dice on weather.
